pattern welded damascus: Dart long tang
Description
A full tang knife blade made of so-called pattern-welded Damascus steel. Such blades are created by repeatedly forge-welding a packet of steels with different carbon content. This process results in blades with a characteristic pattern. They are not corrosion-resistant. Forged, 59-62 HRC.
The blade is intended for a heavy throwing knife, and therefore it is longitudinally forged. The weld lines of the layers run parallel to the edge of the blade. In regular knives, a twisted forging technique is used - the packet is twisted like a braid and then forge-welded. As a result, the layer weld lines end at the edge, which creates a saw-like effect and increases cutting aggression, but in a throwing knife, it would result in reduced resistance to stress in the plane of the blade. For the same reason, the blade has a very low hardness – in the 40-45 HRC range. The blade can also be used as a pike head.
The blade is in a raw (unsharpened) state.
