pattern-welded damascus: Boyscout
Description
Blade made of so-called pattern-welded Damascus steel. Such blades are created by repeatedly forge-welding a billet of steels with varying carbon content. This process results in blades with a characteristic pattern. They are not corrosion-resistant. This blade comes from Pakistan, crafted by a highly reputable artisan from Wazirabad who manufactures knives using ancient technologies. The billet components are AISI 4340 and high-carbon 1095 steel. Aside from manganese, nickel, and molybdenum, the 4340 steel contains chromium as an alloying element at a level of 0.70-0.90%, but the blades remain prone to corrosion.
A blade for a short backup knife. Partial hollow grind. Forged, 58-61 HRC.
