laminated steel: Assault 3
Description
Layered blade from Leonid Vasiliev's workshop. The middle layer, i.e. the core and cutting edge, is made of H12MF steel (Russian: "X12MF"), equivalent to Western D2, with a hardness of 62 HRC. The core covers, i.e. the outer layers, are made of high-quality Russian 95X18 stainless steel. On the line of joining the layers along the cutting edge there is a decorative copper "viper". Drop point profile with a ground back, partially hollow grind. Compared to other Wasiliew blades from the Assault series, Assault 3 is distinguished by a darker shade obtained in the thermal treatment (tempering) process. To show this, in the last of the attached photos above Storm 3, I placed another blade from the Assault series.
