Woodsman axe (9XC steel)
Description
Hand-forged 9XC instrumental steel axe. This steel is used to make metal processing gears such as drills and cutters. 9XC is a Russian designation. The number 9 means that steel contains 0.9 coal. The letters (of course in the Cyrillic alphabet) " x " and "C" mean chrome (Cr) and silicon (SI), which is not less than 1.5%, respectively. Knives and axes from this steel appeared on the Russian market relatively recently. They are always forged products, not produced by pressing or rolling. To emphasize this, manufacturers almost always leave traces of forging on the blocks. Knives are hardened to 60-62 HRC, axes up to 55-57 HRC (of course we are talking about cutting edge hardness). The long (540 mm) styling is leather-wrapped at the end.
Cutting edge length: 140 mm
