VooDoo Hawk Mini
Description
A branded tactical tomahawk featuring a stainless steel head and a handle made of glass-reinforced nylon. The steel used for the head is Chinese 3Cr13, which is similar in performance to AISI 420 steel. It is highly corrosion-resistant, though not completely stainless, which is why there is a VooDoo Hawk variant featuring a black anti-corrosion coating on the head. In this specific variant, the blade has a satin finish. The hardness stated on the packaging (the tomahawk and its sheath come enclosed in a plastic blister pack) is 50-56 HRC. The tomahawk head features a blade with a 56 mm cutting edge on one side, and a sharp spike on the other, reminiscent of historical horseman's picks. It is mounted on a straight, 30 cm long handle with a metal pommel. The handle is made of black ballistic nylon (glass-reinforced plastic).
The product was designed by SOG (SOG Specialty Knives & Tools), a company specializing in military, tactical, and survival knives. The company's name is a tribute to the elite special operations unit that operated in Vietnam between 1964 and 1972 (Studies and Observations Group). Originally an American brand, it was acquired in 2021 by GSM Outdoors, which also owns Cold Steel, among other brands. Production has since been entirely moved to China, Taiwan, and Japan.
