Snake axe
Description
Forged axe with a narrow head on a rosewood shaft. Unfinished forge marks have been left on the axe head. The narrow, serpentine profile of the head itself is quite frequently found at archaeological excavation sites of medieval artifacts. This shape saves material, and the tool itself is practical and lightweight enough to be operated with one hand, including in combat.
The blade is made of steel with chromium as an alloying element, but at a level that does not guarantee stainlessness, so it requires proper care. Differentially hardened: the cutting edge is 56-58 HRC, while the poll is 44-46 HRC. The shaft is made of rosewood. The axe is sold with a fastening leather blade cover featuring an embossed pattern and a large belt loop on the back.
Blade length: 80 mm
Dimension from cutting edge to poll (max.): 183 mm
Shaft length: 555 mm
