Nepal
Description
A heavy machete with a profile similar to a kukri, made of instrumental carbon steel 60MN, whose main (and practically only) advantage is good impact resistance. Therefore, it is mainly used for the production of machetes, axes and heavy knives intended more for chopping than cutting. Ordinary knives are also made from it, but rather for lack of other, more suitable material. The steel easily rusts, requires care, and holds its sharpness moderately. Nepal is made of forged 60MN with traces of forging left on the unpolished part of the blade above the concave grind line. The manufacturer states a hardness of 55-57 HRC, but I would have doubts here – this is the upper limit for this steel and it is not quite clear why such hardness is needed in a machete. The handle is wooden, oiled but not stabilized, with a hole for a wrist lanyard. It is worth putting on such a loop because the knife is really heavy (630 grams).
