Machete 1 (U8 steel, elastron handle)
Description
A heavy machete with an elastron handle. The model is a nod to the "Taiga" machete-knife, a cult classic in Russia, which was designed as a multifunctional tool for chopping, cutting, and even digging. Due to their weight and size, knives of this type are not well-suited for carrying on a belt but can be attached to a backpack. It's also a great tool to have in your car for a camping trip.
The "Taiga" clone from Siomin is made with hidden tang construction (the tang runs the full length of the handle and is overmolded with elastron). The blade is made of U8 steel, which is harder than 440 steel but not corrosion-resistant. Therefore, it's important to wipe the knife dry after use and, upon returning from a trip, to clean it thoroughly and wipe it with oil. The handle features a lanyard hole for a wrist strap, which the original "Taiga" lacks. Like all IP Siomina products, the machete comes with a very aesthetically pleasing, embossed leather sheath.
