Gorka 4 (produced by Bars)

Gorka 4 spring/autumn uniform set, consisting of a jacket and trousers. It differs from the Gorka 3 in its jacket design – Gorka 3 jackets have a full front opening, whereas Gorka 4 jackets are traditional anoraks pulled on over the head. Various Gorka models have been seen in video footage from the fighting in eastern Ukraine. During the Second Chechen War, half of the Russian units, both from the Ministry of Defence and the Internal Troops, including Spetsnaz of all kinds, operated in Gorkas. After the invasion of Ukraine began, units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps (those with soldiers from the annexed Donetsk and Luhansk regions) were also equipped with Gorkas. The Gorka 4 suits we offer are manufactured by the most renowned Russian producer – the Bars company, a supplier of uniforms for all power structures of the Russian Federation. The suits are made of a durable, heavy-duty cotton canvas with reinforcing rip-stop overlays in areas most prone to abrasion. The overlays are khaki-colored, darker than the rest of the suit. They may also come in a camouflage pattern.

A loose-fitting ("свободного кроя") cotton pullover anorak with a hood. The elbows, lower sleeves, and shoulders are reinforced with a darker material (a cotton blend with synthetic fiber). It features a chest pocket with a two-button flap and two slanted side pockets. There is one pocket on each sleeve at shoulder height, fastened with a hook-and-loop closure. The sleeves are finished with elastic cuffs. The hood has a small brim and a drawstring for adjusting to the shape of the face. It is worth noting that the reinforcement panel on the shoulders, yoke, and back of the hood is made from a single piece of fabric, which reduces the number of seams. Gorkas made by Bars have a unique feature not seen in other models: the reinforcing elbow patch is sewn in such a way that a 9 cm wide, hook-and-loop fastened opening remains at the bottom, near the cuff. This allows for the insertion of your own padding between the overlay and the sleeve material.

The trousers feature an elastic waistband and belt loops designed for a wide military belt. They have a button fly. Reinforcements are similar to the jacket's, with elastic gathers at the knees. There are two side pockets at the waist, two rear pockets with button flaps, and two large cargo pockets on the thighs. The leg openings have elastic cuffs. At the bottom of each leg, there is an elastic stirrup that goes under the foot and fastens with a button on the other side.

The set includes field-proven side suspenders with button attachments. The suspenders attach to loops on the sides of the trousers, not at the front and back.

Important note on Russian uniform sizing: unlike Chinese sizing (which notoriously runs small, e.g., a Chinese XXL is often a European L), Russian sizing tends to be generous. This is because Russian field uniforms are designed to accommodate warm, thick undergarments and even sweatpants and sweatshirts for extra insulation. Please keep this in mind when choosing your size.

Regarding the future availability of out-of-stock Gorka sizes: I am unable to say if or when any particular size will be available again. At the end of 2024, the Russian Federation introduced an export ban on camouflaged clothing. As I do not wish to enter into a dispute with Russian customs officials over whether a tactical suit in "olive" color is considered "camouflaged," I currently have no way of importing more Gorkas. The sets currently for sale are the last of our old stock.
