Gorka 3 (produced by Bars)

A Gorka 3 summer uniform set, consisting of a jacket and trousers. Unlike the Gorka 4, the jacket is not a pullover anorak but features a full-button front. Various Gorka models are frequently spotted in video footage from the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. During the Second Chechen War, half of the Russian units, both from the Ministry of Defence and Internal Troops, including Spetsnaz of all kinds, were operating in Gorka suits. Gorka suits and their clones, which vary in their similarity to the original, are very popular among hunters and hikers in Russia. Every major Russian outdoor clothing manufacturer offers a suit clearly inspired by the Gorka. One of the most reputable manufacturers is Bars, a supplier of uniforms for all uniformed services of the Russian Federation. The suits are made from a durable, cotton tent canvas with rip-stop reinforcement patches in areas most susceptible to wear and tear. The reinforcement panels are a darker khaki color than the main fabric. They can also be in a camouflage pattern.

Jacket:
A loose-fitting ("svobodnogo kroya") cotton jacket with a hood and a button front. Reinforcements of a darker material (a cotton/synthetic blend) are located on the elbows, cuffs, and shoulders. The front features two slanted, button-flap pockets at the waist. There is one hook-and-loop closure pocket on each shoulder. The sleeves have elasticated cuffs. The hood features a small brim and a drawstring to adjust the fit around the face. It is worth noting that the reinforcement panel on the shoulders, yoke, and back of the hood is made from a single piece of material, which reduces the number of seams.

Trousers:
The trousers have an elasticated waistband and belt loops for a wide military belt. They feature a button fly. Reinforced in the same manner as the jacket, the trousers also have an elastic gathering behind the knee. There are two side pockets at the waist, two rear pockets with button flaps, plus two large cargo pockets on the thighs. The leg cuffs are elasticated.

The set includes practical, field-proven side suspenders. The suspenders attach to loops on the sides of the trousers, not at the front and back.

Important note on Russian uniform sizing: Unlike Chinese sizing (which notoriously runs small, e.g., a Chinese XXL is often a European L), Russian sizing appears to run large. This is likely because Russian field uniforms are designed to accommodate warm, thick underlayers, or even sweatpants and sweatshirts for extra insulation. Please consider this when selecting your size.

Regarding the future availability of out-of-stock Gorka sizes: I am unable to say if or when a particular size will be available again. At the end of 2024, the Russian Federation introduced a ban on the export of camouflaged clothing. Since I do not wish to enter into a dispute with the Russian customs authorities over whether a tactical suit in "olive" color is considered "camouflaged" or not, I currently have no way of importing more Gorka suits. The sets being offered are the last of our old stock.
