Gorka 3 Fleece (Digital Flora RF)
Description
A winter, insulated version of the Gorka 3 uniform with inserts in Digital Flora RF camouflage. Typically, Gorka manufacturers, taking the path of least resistance, add a rather flimsy, detachable fleece liner to the summer version and advertise it as a winter model. The Gorka 3 Fleece we offer is manufactured by the most renowned of Russian producers – the Bars company, a supplier of uniforms for all force structures of the Russian Federation. Their winter Gorkas outclass all others; no Russian model I know of can compare in terms of solid construction, refined design, and attention to detail. The liner is permanently sewn in, and special inserts have been placed in the crotch and underarms to improve ventilation. The reinforcements, characteristic of Gorkas, are made of rip-stop fabric in Digital Flora RF camouflage (the official camouflage of the ground forces of the Russian Federation). Overall, the cut follows the button-up summer Gorka:
A loose-fitting (rus. 'свободного кроя') cotton jacket with a hood, fastened at the front with buttons covered by a storm flap. Rip-stop reinforcements in Digital Flora RF camouflage on the elbows, lower sleeves, and shoulders.
- Two slanted lower pockets on the front of the jacket, with buttoned flaps.
- A side-zip pocket with a Velcro panel on each shoulder.
- Two internal chest pockets with button closures.
- One internal lower mesh patch pocket for documents.
- Sleeves are finished with elastic cuffs.
- A hood with a small brim and a drawstring for adjusting to the face.
- 5.5 cm wide belt loops.
- Trousers with elasticated sections on the sides of the waistband, a two-button closure, and a zippered fly.
- Two open-top, slanted hip pockets.
- Two zippered rear pockets on the seat.
- Two cargo pockets on the thighs with buttoned flaps.
- Reinforcements as on the jacket (rip-stop); elastic gathers behind the knees. The leg bottoms have elastic cuffs.
- The fleece lining extends beyond the length of the trouser leg and includes a stirrup strap for the foot.
- The set includes field-proven, button-on suspenders. The suspenders attach to loops on the sides of the trousers, rather than at the front and back.
In summary, this is a phenomenal winter suit with only one drawback: for our winters, it can be too warm. At temperatures around -3°C (the norm for our recent winters), it will simply be too hot during a fast march with a backpack. However, for walks, guard duty, or sitting in a hunting stand, there is nothing better.

Important note on Russian uniform sizing: unlike Chinese sizing (which is notoriously overestimated, e.g., a Chinese XXL is often a European L), Russian sizing tends to be very generous. This is likely because Russian field uniforms are cut to accommodate warm, thick underlayers, or even track pants and sweatshirts for added insulation. It is worth keeping this in mind when selecting a size.
Regarding the future availability of out-of-stock Gorka sizes: I am unable to say if or when a specific size will be available again. At the end of 2024, the Russian Federation introduced a ban on the export of camouflaged clothing. As I do not wish to enter into a dispute with Russian customs officials over whether a tactical suit in "olive" is considered "camouflaged" or not, I am currently unable to import more Gorkas. The sets on offer are the remainder of old stock.
