Description

This Polish OLV Lubawa bulletproof vest in the wz.93 Desert Pantera camouflage was designed for ground forces and introduced to the Polish army in the early 1990s. It was used during missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The vest is made of heavy-duty nylon. It has a system of straps and very strong hook-and-loop fasteners that allow for a precise fit for any body type. It consists of two panels, front and rear, sewn together at the right shoulder.

On the inside of the vest, at the front and back, there are two large hook-and-loop fastened pockets designed for soft (textile) ballistic inserts with Level 2 protection, securing the soldier against handgun rounds and fragments. Identical pockets are located in the shoulder pads, collar, and groin protector.

On the front, the vest has a large hook-and-loop fastened pocket (17x25 cm) for a Level 4 hard ballistic plate. It features shoulder pads with sewn-on straps for epaulets, a high collar to protect the neck and nape, and a detachable groin protector.

It was originally designed for soft inserts protecting against 9mm Parabellum rounds (protection class 2 according to the PN-V-87000:1999 standard), and steel hard plates protecting against 7.62mm rounds fired from an AKM rifle (protection class 4 according to the PN-V-87000:1999 standard). There were variants where a hard plate could also be fitted in the back, which significantly increased the weight (a vest with a full set of inserts weighed 11.5 kg).

The vest is sold without ballistic inserts.
