Axe Bond
Description
A forged axe on a long rosewood handle. The blade is made of steel with chromium as an alloying additive, but at a level that does not guarantee full stainless properties, so it requires proper care. It is zone-hardened: the cutting edge is 56-58 HRC, and the poll is 44-46 HRC. A large part of the surface, except for the grind line and the poll, has been left with a rough finish. The handle, made of rosewood, is wrapped with strips of black leather for an improved grip. Asian rosewood, due to its hardness, is used for products such as expensive parquet flooring and is an excellent, albeit somewhat more difficult to work with, material for a handle. The axe is sold with a fastened leather sheath featuring an embossed pattern and a large belt loop on the back.
